A quality that will impress you.
Our proven bicycles and tricycles for everyone are produced completely in-house from initial design, through construction, to complete assembly.
Made in Germany
Step by step to the finished product: For around 20 years, tried and tested therapy and special bicycles for people with and without disabilities have been produced under the pfautec umbrella. With a lot of passion, craftsmanship and in-house production, we create innovative products for children and adults. Take a look behind the scenes of our production and learn more about the creation process of our bicycles and tricycles.
Seven steps to your individual special bike:
1) The shell
After we have clarified the order, we get to work. The first step is to saw the tubes of your special bike into the correct lengths. These are then bent and professionally machined so that they can be welded together to form a single part.
2) The welding workshop
Our welding robots are energetic helpers when it comes to welding the tubes together to form a stable frame. Our individual welding stations are another showplace.
3) Sandblasting
For the third stage we use the shape of the steel balls. This is used to treat the surfaces of the frame parts.
4) The powder workshop
In the fourth step, colour comes into play: In the powder workshop all frame parts are powder coated in the desired colours. We offer 19 different colours, where you as a customer can choose either a standard colour or, for an additional charge, a customised special paint finish.
5) The spoking workshop
Now it's time for the most important thing – the wheels. We have our own wheel manufacturing workshop with storage and centring machines, with which we can produce our own wheels.
6) The warehouse
Our warehouse is the hub of incoming and outgoing goods. This is where the commissioning of the customer-specific bikes takes place before the special bikes are finally sent for final assembly.
7) The assembly
In the last step, all components of the special bikes are brought together in the assembly. Here our employees go to work once again especially with eagle eyes. To ensure that everything functions perfectly, the finished bikes are rigorously checked for quality, function and safety. Finally, it's on to the packaging: After our products have passed all quality and functional tests, they are finally packed in a well-protected box and sent to your local dealer.
For all those who want to move more. We look forward to receiving your application.
FAQ
Do I need a driver's licence or an insurance licence plate for your electric-assisted models?
No, you do not need it, because – unless otherwise requested – we deliver all vehicles only in combination with pedal assistance. This means that the electric motor only provides assistance when you actively pedal. A speed higher than 6 km/h is not possible without pedal assistance (so-called pedelec system) and is therefore not subject to a driving licence or insurance.
How do you differentiate yourself from cheaper providers?
We have a quality management system according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 and the production of the special vehicles is carried out strictly according to legal requirements. Extensive product tests by independent bodies and an in-house roller test stand also ensure safety. In addition, we place great emphasis on sustainability and our in-house quality standards, including
- In-house production, assembly and distribution
- More than 20 years of experience in the production of special bicycle and tricycles
- "Made in Germany" – no foreign imports
- Extremely robust models, some even up to 160 kg
- A diverse product range
- Competent specialist trade partners (Europe-wide)
- An innovative company with a long tradition, where inclusion is a priority
If I buy a model without a motor system, can I have an electric motor retrofitted later?
Retrofitting to an existing model is possible if the installation variant is a front wheel motor. For this, the front wheel size must be between 16 and 28 inches. Please ask your dealer for the respective amount of the surcharge.
Where can I get your products?
Our products are primarily sold through bicycle dealers and medical supply stores. You will receive particularly good and intensive advice from our support dealers. Compared to the shop around the corner, they always have at least one vehicle in stock in the showroom for inspection and a test ride. You can find a support dealer near you with the help of our dealer search. There you will be shown all dealers within a radius of 50 km. Simply enter your city or your respective postal code.
